Sustainable Development Fee (SDF)
Bhutan follows a “High Value, Low Volume” tourism policy. The Sustainable Development Fee is a daily fee that funds free healthcare and education, conservation and carbon-neutral development.
How much is it?
| Traveller | SDF per night |
|---|---|
| Adults (international) | USD 100 |
| Children aged 6–12 | USD 50 |
| Children under 6 | Free |
| Indian nationals | INR 1,200 |
The USD 100 rate applies until 31 August 2027.
What’s included in our prices
Every Bhutanova package already includes the SDF, so the price you see is the price you pay for the land portion of your trip.
Rates are set by the Royal Government of Bhutan and may change. We’ll always quote the current rate.
