What to Pack for Bhutan
Clothing
- Layers — mornings are cold and afternoons warm, even in summer
- A waterproof jacket
- A warm fleece or down jacket (essential Oct–Mar)
- Modest clothes for dzongs and temples: long sleeves, long trousers or a long skirt, and a collared shirt. No shorts, sleeveless tops or hats inside.
- Comfortable walking shoes with good grip for the Tiger’s Nest hike
Essentials
- Passport (valid 6+ months) and printed visa clearance letter
- Travel insurance documents
- Sunscreen, sunglasses and a hat — UV is strong at altitude
- Personal medication and altitude remedies
- Plug adapter: Bhutan uses types D, F and G at 230 V
- Reusable water bottle
For trekkers
Sleeping bag rated to –10 °C, trekking poles, broken-in boots, head torch and blister kit. We provide tents, mattresses and meals.
